Griot’s Well Writers: Workshop on Collage and Poetry
October 30, 2022 @ 3:00 pm - 4:30 pm
Free
The Oxford Poetry Library are proud to welcome the Griot’s Well writers to inspire our city. This group of award-winning writers have been selected for the Writerz & Scribez development programme for Black and ethnically diverse writers over the age of 25.
This workshop will focus on how to use collage to find poetic inspiration, and will be run by Gayathiri Kamalakanthan, a Tamil writer who specialises in queering and collage with poetry. They are interested in how language shapes our realities from childhood, and how we can use language to queer our future possibilities.
We have 20 places available so please tell us you’re coming by booking your ticket HERE.
All ages are welcome from 13+ and no previous experience of collage or poetry is required. All materials will be provided, and participants are invited to stay afterwards for free pizza and refreshments.
This is because from 6pm-8pm, the Griots Well writers will be showcasing the work, and we would love to also invite participants from the workshop to share what they created at the start of this event. If you can stay, you can just let us know on the day what you’d like to eat.
The Oxford Poetry Library is an accessible and inclusive space, but please contact us in advance if you have any access needs on oxfordpoetrylibrary@gmail.com.
