Oxford Poetry Library is an entirely volunteer-run organization that exists because of the passion, dedication, and enthusiasm of a committed group of volunteers who want it to!

Things happen at the library because we have a cluster of working groups who oversee the various functions of the library, from volunteer coordination, to fundraising, to marketing, to outreach, and more. We are always recruiting for new members of these working groups so if there’s an area that interests you, please do follow those links to find out more about how to get involved.

You can read our constitution which outlines our vision and mission, and our operating principles here.

Our founder is Phoebe Nicholson, who set up the library back in 2017. A British-American poet who is passionate about taking poetry out of the ivory tower and out to the people, Phoebe set up the library back in 2017. It began as a box full of books on a cargo bike, cycled around markets and events around Oxford, and has since grown to the grassroots, DIY poetry hub in the centre of Oxford that it is today.
