This is just to say – spoken word open mic night

September 6 @ 7:30 pm - 10:00 pm

£5

Join us in the library on the first Tuesday of every month to enjoy all manner of word-weaving, story-sharing and spell-casting.

We welcome poets, storytellers, and writers of all kinds to share their work (or the work of others) in a safe, supportive, and inclusive space.

Oxfordshire’s Great Big Green Week is this month, a week of events helping and encouraging people and organisations to act to help tackle the climate crisis, and to protect and improve our environment. The theme for Great Big Green Week this year is ENERGY. As part of the proceedings, for this month’s session we especially invite performances on the theme of ‘energy’ – a theme which can be interpreted ecologically, biologically, and environmentally, but also philosophically and spiritually! We look forward to hearing your interpretations on the theme, and will prioritize performers with pieces riffing on this theme.

Every month we feature a performer with a slightly extended set and this month’s featured performer to grace our stage is Jac Common. Jac (they/them) is a writer and canal-dweller, originally from Nottingham and now floating in Oxford. They have a lust for pylons and disorganisation, a PhD in microbial ecology, and blessedly few marketable skills. Their poetry has appeared online, most recently in SPAM.

Slots are 5 minutes long, and performers sign up on the door – first come, first served! Performers entry is free!

All very welcome to just come and listen. This event is non-ticketed, with entry £5 on the door (£2 concessions/Patreon patrons).

Doors at 7.30pm (performers advised to arrive a little earlier!)

Note: there is no bar but the event is BYOB (wine and beer only, no spirits please!) and this event is 18+
