Family Sunday

March 16, 2025 @ 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm
Free

Join us on the 3rd Sunday of every month, where The Community Works will be open for Family Sunday! The library will be open for browsing, borrowing, or just hanging out to read, write, and relax. Lula’s Ethiopian Cuisine will be open for an affordable food, and we will provide a safe, inclusive space for food, fun, and play.

All are welcome to The Community Works between 12pm and 3pm to drop in for free – we’ll have books for young and old, poetry games and activities, and as always, our friendly and welcoming librarian volunteers.

We will also be welcoming Chris Wardle to share some laugh-out-loud, family-friendly poetry and storytelling as part of the proceedings!

Tickle your funny bone and laugh together on this Family Sunday, with storytelling in the nonsense tradition of narrative rhyming verse. Join Oxford Poetry Library volunteer, Chris Wardle, for a very interactive, family-friendly session, as he uncovers dark, comedic, poetic secrets, such as:
  • Why Australian men are fond of their beards (and fearful of barbershops)
  • The feckless kindness of a breath-catching moment, before feasting on fat, feetless oysters
  • The rediscovering of some of the animals Noah forgot
