SUMMARY:Writing New Histories of Oxford
DESCRIPTION:Oxford is a city rich in histories beyond the university. These histories are often part of the present\, and of our everyday lives. \nThis free writing workshop is aimed at residents of Oxford who wish to put into words and images their experiences and memories of the city.  \nWe will explore local and individual memories of everyday life in Oxford\, and will encourage participants to share their own experiences\, with a view to including them in a book that celebrates Oxford’s communities\, and using extracts of the workshop writing in exhibition panels at the Museum of Oxford. No previous experience of writing is required – just be willing to share your memories and experiences\, and be ready to give writing a go. \nThis is a TORCH initiative in partnership with the Museum of Oxford and Oxford Poetry Library\, and workshops will be facilitated by Patrick McGuinness\, poet and writer\, and author of Real Oxford\, a book about the city beyond the dreaming spires. \nNo need to book – drop in from 2pm to 4pm to join in! \nOxford Poetry Library is an accessible space but please do contact us in advance if you have specific requirements. You can email us about this or with any questions about the workshop at oxfordpoetrylibary@gmail.com
