SUMMARY:Drafting Table: performance session
DESCRIPTION:All are welcome to this new poetry writing group\, where we will share our emerging poems with each other and provide feedback in a safe and inclusive environment. \nMaybe you have been attending the Getting Started sessions and feel ready to edit your work and develop your ideas. Maybe you’re an experienced but unpublished poet who wants to take those next steps in your poetry career. There are no minimum requirements for joining\, poets of all abilities and backgrounds can attend\, just bring a willingness to receive and provide feedback! \nOnce a month\, we will invite a published poet to join us at Gulp Fiction bookstore. There will be a short public reading of their poems followed by a workshop where attendees can learn more about the creative process\, get an insight into what it means to be a poet\, and share our work with each other. April’s poet is Cia Mangat. \nCia Mangat (she/her) is a writer from London. A former Foyle and Barbican Young Poet\, she has read poems in places such as the Southbank Centre\, Ledbury Poetry Festival and BBC Radio\, and published them in bath magg\, Propel Magazine and the Isis. She edits Zindabad Zine. \nPlease note that workshops are limited to 20 attendees in the upstairs space\, so get there early to avoid disappointment. Feel free to email any queries to opldraftingtable@gmail.com \n

SUMMARY:"This pain is not just our own": A writing workshop on gendered health & imagining collective responses
DESCRIPTION:We can often feel alone in our pain\, but in this writing workshop we will be with it together. The title quote is taken from Rachael Boast’s poetry anthology which speaks to living with chronic illness at a time of global crisis. In this workshop\, we will be unearthing the scale of our personal and collective suffering. We will start with discussions of illness but expand outwards\, thinking about how our bodies are entangled with the world around us. From this\, we will explore how together we can build caring\, creative and communal responses. \nWe will do this through creative writing exercises\, both poetry and creative non-fiction. You don’t need to have written about this before\, or have any particular skill level or experience to take part. \nThe workshop will take place on March 9th\, at 1pm-3pm\, as part of the International Women’s Day events at The Community Works. All materials will be provided. The session is priced at £5\, and tickets are £2-£10 based on means. Please register to let us know you are attending here. \nThe session will be facilitated by Rachel Piper (she/they)\, author of Care Curriculum\, who will be drawing on her background in co-producing healthcare services with those with lived experience\, her work in building movements for health justice\, as well as her Gender Studies MA research into the politics of both solidarity and ecology surrounding Endometriosis. \nWe are in the process of also organising an online version of this event for those unable to attend in person. Dates and more details to be announced soon. \nThis workshop is brought to you by LIT\, a reading and writing group for group for cis and trans women\, trans men\, non-binary people\, and people of other minority genders to share their own work and the work of others. \nThe Oxford Poetry Library is an accessible space but please do contact us in advance if you have specific requirements. You can email us about this or with any questions about the workshop at oxfordpoetrylibary@gmail.com \n  \nThis workshop is in collaboration with Makespace Oxford’s celebrations of International Women’s Day which are taking place throughout March. Throughout the month\, we will be running events and workshops which feature the poems of women\, and/or those which champion and celebrate the voices of women\, or which resonate with this year’s IWD theme of “Inspire Inclusion”.
