SUMMARY:Page to Stage Workshop
DESCRIPTION:If you’d like to learn how to take poetry and writing off the page and onto the stage with skill and confidence\, Page to Stage is the place for you. \nThis mini-series of performance training workshops covers some key skills you’ll need to perform writing for an audience. We’ll be focusing mainly on poetry\, but if you have something else in mind\, please contact us to check in. \nIt will be a welcoming and inclusive space\, particularly suited those who are starting their journeys or have a little experience and want to step it up. \nYou’re welcome to attend just one or the whole set to have more time and space to hone your craft. \nSessions will be led by Lorna Burchell\, professional storyteller and performance poet. \nSession time: Two hours \nParticipant numbers: Limited to 10 \nPrice: Free\, but booking is essential here \n  \nSession 2: Writing for performance \nDiscover and develop your performing persona and voice. In this workshop\, you’ll work out who the stage you really is\, what they sound like and what they want to write about. \nWe will focus particularly on the art of performative language and how to use it in our writing. \nBy the end of the session\, you’ll have performed a short piece of your own work in front of our supportive group. You’ll receive live encouragement and feedback. \nWe’ll cover \nUsing your voice effectively\, the creative/performance persona; working with the sound of language for effective performance; working out what inspires you and what you want to write about.
